Arabians are on average around 14.3 hands. They can be significantly taller, or shorter. To register an arab it has to be at least 13.2 hands. I have had an arabian that was a solid 16 hands, but he was very unusual, he towered over every horse in the training barn that had around 70 arabs. How tall an arab will get depends a lot on its bloodlines. It’s somewhat unusual to find an arab over 15.2 hands, although it is possible. The arab horse association will also register half arabians, a half arabian’s height depends on what it is crossed with, and can be just about any size (although still must be over 13.2 hands)

For welshes there are different ’sections’ of the breed. A section A is a Welsh Mountain Pony and is not to exceed 12.2 hands in the USA, section B Welsh Pony can not be larger than 14.2 hands, section C is the Welsh Pony of Cob type and can not exceed 13.2 hands and a Welsh Pony Cob is a section D and is larger than 13.2 hands with no upper limit.

The Arabian Horse is between 14.1 to 15.1 hands tall. The Welsh Cob Horse is not less than 13.2 hands tall with no upper limit in the breed rules. :)

every specific horse varies. the breed has an average standard but every horse varies so much that you cant decide to buy a horse just by average height of the breed.

Based on experience and not breed averages:
Arabians typically aren’t over 15.2 but usually 14 or taller. Mine is 14.2 but she’s strong.

I’ve seen Welsh ponies anywhere from 9 hands to 14 hands.

Arabians like any breed will vary by bloodlines and also with arabs by type of arab (polish, russion, egyptian…etc) but most are in the 14 hand range.

Also Anglo Arabs (Arab / Thoroughbred cross) are much taller than other arabs and are often 15-16 hands.

However my arab mare is 15.1 and very leggy and tall for an arab. Just like any breed of horse there is a breed standard and there are always exceptions…

arabs get like 15 hh max and depending on the welsh they are like 14hh 3in, so either one is pretty short

Arabs are usually from 14-15.2 but 15.2 being large for an Arabian. Most are about 14.3
Welsh kind of depends on the type but they usually get not bigger than 14.3

Those numbers being in hands each hand equaling 4 inches, just in case.

I also once owned a 16 hand purebred Arabian mare. It’s unusual, but does occur.

Hello,

The Arab horse stands 14.1 to 15 hh. …but can differ above and below in height. The tallest arab i’ve ridden was 15.3

Welsh mountain pony (Section A) may not exceed 12 hands (122 cm/48 inches ) in height.

The Welsh Pony (Section B), the Welsh Pony of Riding Type, is part of the Welsh Breeds (which also include Welsh mountain pony (Section A), Welsh pony of cob type (Section C), and Welsh Cob (Section D). These stand maximum height of 13.2 hh (1.37 m) in the UK and 14.2 hh (1.47 m) in the U.S
