arabian horses
goatlordusa asked:

I can’t even remember where I saw the video. This was years and years ago, but it was one of the weirdest videos I ever saw. From what I remember, I think I heard somewhere in the video that the horses were arabian? or egyptian? I’m not even sure. And also, if I’m remembering right, the riders looked like sheiks. seriously. Like Saudi Arabian. But the thing that really sticks out were the way the horses were running. There was no galloping here at all. Just imagine a horse walking normally, then speed that up immensely, and that’s how these horses ran. Simply put, it was like watching horses walking at extreme speeds. If anyone knows of horses that are bred to run like this, please let me know. Thanks.

I have never seen this. Of you find it online please post it. I would love to see what that looks like.

It sounds like something a gaited horse might do?

It’s called trotting! Horses have four gaits, walk, trot, canter and gallop

This is a pace. It was probably a gaited horse. They do not trot - only walk, flat walk, running walk, and pace (very, very fast walk), rack, and canter.
Their legs do not move on the diagonal like other horses - it looks almost like a waddle, because both right legs move together then the left legs move together.
You see this in all gaited horses such as,
Tennessee Walkers, and other gaited horses. They are also a blast to ride.

Google gaited horses - there’s tons of information. :-)

I have never heard of this. And its not pacing (like Animal Girl said).

Your soft gaited horses or single footing as some call it can move their legs in a manner that makes a very fast running walk or a rack…one foot hitting the ground at a time, and it makes for a very smooth ride . A good racking horse can go extremely fast and yet do it smoothly and with out a gallop or trot.
It does not sound like a pace, as a pace is both right legs move in unison then the left legs move in unison like the standardbreds do when in hobbles. it is a very waddley looking gait.
I have never heard of Arabian horses being soft gaited, but who knows what they have “over there”.

Hmm… I have no idea, sounds like a gaited horse must have been trotting and it just looked funny

I have had some Arabian horses that were “gaited”. They did a very fast single foot gait….it was very smooth. The Kellogg Institute bred for this gait in the Arabian Horse breed and some of their breeding stock was directly imported from Egypt specifically for their gaiting ability.

Ambling horses are popular everywhere except mainland Europe, The Gaited Arabian is worth more than the normal ones and what you where seeing was an amble a four beat gait like a stepping pace not quite like a walking horse more like a saddlebred.

There are two gaits that saddlebreds, part saddlebreds and some other breeds are able to be trained to do called the slow gait and the rack. Both of these gaits only have one foot on the ground at any given time and it looks like a funky walk/trot combo. The slow gait is a slow version of this and the rack is a very fast version, however, both gaits are extremely smooth and easy to sit. At saddle horse shows, you will hear people hollering and yelling as these horses “rack on” because it can help a horse get excited and increase the speed at which they perform this gait. Here is a video of a horse racking in slow motion that I found on you tube, this video is owned by americansaddlebred not me:

My guess would be a Paso Fino. Their gaits are: the Classic Fino which is equivalent to a walk, Paso Corto which is like a trot and the Paso Largo which is like a canter. You can listen to their cadenced foot fall pattern at all gaits and they should all be in perfect sync.
