Cassie asked:

He is a black 5 year old, 7 month registered purebred arabian with Egyptian bloodlines in Arizona. He has been trained in English and western. He is 15 hands and in excellent health. He is a gelding.

I’m not trying to sell him or cheat anybody by leaving out information, but i wanted to know, assuming he is an average horse, what would be an appropriate price

Well we would have to see pictures. From what you say he sounds like a pretty good horse so around $3000 or more. But, if the horse had bad conformation and alot of flaws it could be around $1000. It just depends.

It depends on his movement and conformation. If he is class A circuit quality he could be over 5,000 dollars. If he is national quality, he could be worth upwords of 15,000. If he is just sutible for local shows/4-H, then between 2-5 thousand.

*Your picture doesn’t realy show anything that could further determine his price. His movement also plays a huge factor in his value, and you can’t judge movement by a picture alone. A picture from the side of him standing, or being ridden are more useful.

I would say 5000 or up a bit def a good deal sounds beautiful.

I’d give you $50 tops, I don’t take any ones word when it comes to buying a horse (everyone has a great horse, until you take it home and you find out it’s not as well trained as you say). The only way to price a horse is to see it in real life and ride it.
Look people think my opinion is wrong, that’s too bad. I think pricing a horse at $5000 when you’ve never seen it (in real life) is pretty dumb.

Probably between 2000-3000

Sorry folks, I know this isn’t going to be popular but how can you put a price tag on something with so little information? I would hate to think that someone would take your advice and pay thousands of dollars for an animal because you know it is 5, black and 15 hands tall. His bloodlines, training and health need to be observed first hand before you make a decision on them.

A horse like this could be sold for anywhere between 3,000 and 15,000 depending on the amount of training he has and how much he has been shown. My guess would probably be around 5,000.

it depends on how it acts

Average price out here in Los Angeles would be $3000 - 5000 for average horse english/western/trail

So in AZ - maybe $1000 :)

I would say about 2000-5000 in Ohio, I am not sure about in AZ

Depending on who’s on the bloodlines, his mind, soundness and potential… here in Arizona he could probably go for anywhere from $3500 - $20,000. Obviously, talent and training make a huge difference in the price. I can also tell you that an unregistered, decent trail horse Arabian can be sold for about $2000. … There is an Arab mare/filly with supposedly great bloodlines where I board, but I wouldn’t pay $50 for her… so it can be quite subjective.

he looks good but you need a vet to look at him but if hes all good then i would say from $5,000 to 20,000. but you got to get every thing checked out

lisahrslvr wrote on January 9th, 2009 9:57 pm :

well I think you have a good one there,, any ways I dont know what the price of Arabains go there but here in MI. I would think you get better $$$$ for him here then there. But you never know. The Egyptain blood line is what would do it, they are high temper breed and people dont like to deal with that.
If he is a calm horse I would stress that to help you out. If not then let people know he needs an expriece rider. I hope that helps……………….good luck
p.s. try this if it helps equine.com

Most of the offspring by that sire go for a minimum of $5000. If he is showing class A up to the regional level and winning some prizes, he could probally be sold for atleast $7500. If he is capable of being competitive at the regional level, around $10000. Competitive at the National level, atleast $15000. Arabians are very popular in Arizona, especially around the Scottsdale area.
